A worker walks by as a few spectators, in an observation area, watch the nacelle raised and installed on Thursday, June 6, 2013, during the construction for Fort Hays State University on property they leased near 210th Avenue and Golf Course Rd. near Hays, Kansas. The nacelle holds all of the generator components. The 80 meter tower was the first of two Vestas V100 wind turbines FHSU is installing for their wind energy project. According to documentation submitted to Ellis County, the turbines will provide energy directly to campus, and their combined energy output will cover roughly 97% of energy consumption on the FHSU campus. This translates to an annual reduction of $600,000 to $1 million in energy costs for FHSU.
